CLIL LESSON 2 On 14.03.2022 I had my second CLIL lesson about inventions in general. I have designed a lesson plan about most important inventions. Again I started the lesson with the meaning of the word invention and after they guessed I had my presentation about inventions, which included invention of paper, toilet, CD, car, computer and lightbulb. It took about 10 minutes, children were very exciting about the invention of the "toilet" they laughed a lot. This time they were hyper-active and did not want to listen to me because they had candies on the break and during the lesson, that's why teacher had to warn them during the class. After the presentation I have prepared a matching activity on the board, which was a bit difficult for them, because I did not introduce some of the vocabulary before and did not have the drilling, but I helped them with the ones they did not know. Kids have a very good memory and when one boy volunteered 2 times they started to  complain ...
TEACHING A CLIL LESSON (INVENTIONS) On 10/03/2022 I had my first CLIL lesson , the topic was inventions and I only had a page from the course book about wheels that's what I've got from the teacher and the rest was on me. So I had to prepare this lesson plan in 2 days. After my first experience I thought that it is going to be a disaster because I had no idea how to do a CLIL lesson, thankfully on  08/03/2022 I had a CLIL lesson with Mrs.Katarzyna Brozsko Barratt and she asked a question from which I started to panic and say I have a CLIL lesson this Thursday and I have 0 ideas how to conduct it, she and my groupmates who helped me a lot and gave me some ideas about it made me understand how to start planning and how should it be so it becomes a CLIL lesson, (ofc I am still learning) but I think it was very helpful <3 The reason I had 0 ideas was that we only had 1 CLIL lesson and now I had to design it but I think it was not that bad as my first normal lesson.  The t...

MY FIRST LESSON On the date 07.03.2022 I had my first lesson on the revision of numbers. When my host teacher wrote me I was very stressed because I had never a lesson before, even micro-teaching !! As she told us that micro-teaching is not that important and I want you to give whole lessons at once, so I thought it was a bad idea at first because I did not know the students and did not get use to it. It took me a week to think and prepare a lesson plan on revision of the numbers from 11-20. I had the class 1-c and my groupmate 1-e. I have prepared them a worksheet "wordsearch" with finding numbers in written form. I have printed them first and started thinking about other activities. It was stressful because I did not knew their level well, so I had started the lesson with greeting and  prepared a quick revision for 5 minutes with flashcards and then 10 minutes with the "freeze song" I paused the song from time to time and showed them the numbers for them to say i...
PRACTICE DAYS 7 (ERROR  MANAGEMENT) Overcorrecting has the risk of demotivating pupils, and it may even disrupt the flow of the class or activity if you jump in and fix every single mistake. Allowing the discourse to continue and without correcting any errors is the opposite extreme. There are situations when this is acceptable, but most students prefer to have some of their errors rectified since it provides them with a foundation from which to progress. However when it comes to very young learners it might not work because they do not know their mistakes yet, so the best solution is to correct them in the stage of learning so it does not become a fossilized one. In the student practice I have noticed that the teacher usually manages the errors immediately, at the stage of learning. However sometimes children do it on purpose and the teacher does not pay attention to it after some time. Error management is a tough topic because it can lead to traumas. Also, I have noticed th...
PRACTICE DAYS 6 (TEACHING MATERIALS) Teaching materials are different in each class. The essential ones are the books and the stuff that could interest young learners, for example mascots, toys and any other thing that is related to the topic of the lesson. This can include teacher-made, pupil-made and commercially-made resources, textbooks, class reading books, dictionaries, e-books, stationery, worksheets and science equipment. Teaching Materials  enable teachers to offer more interactive, interesting and engaging learning activities. According to studies, the key to unlocking excellent progress is a mix of motivated teachers and well-planned learning that makes appropriate use of available teaching Materials.  The utilization of teaching Materials allows a teacher to improve their students' learning experience. It's a departure from the traditional 'chalk and talk' method of instruction, in which the teacher effectively lectures the students. A teacher can provide le...
PRACTICE DAYS 5 (TEACHER TALK- STUDENT TALK) The   ways teachers use talk in the classroom makes a difference in the quality of learning  of the students.                                                                                    - Neil Mercer. Another important aspect in the classroom is teacher talk and student talk, should be there any balance?  I think that it depends on the class and on the age of the students, however i might be wrong. In my student practice I think its the ratio of% 75 /% 25 because they are very young learners. Most of the time teacher introduces the topic and the vocabulary and then students repeat after her, they speak of course with their friends but not in English so i think that teacher should talk but balanced and encourage stu...
PRACTICE DAYS 4 (INSTRUCTIONS) It was 20th of January when I had my practice days continuing, that day I thought that we can start micro-teaching but I was not even participating in the class, I think in all lessons that I have observed before I was quite and shy, especially after first meeting a little boy was very surprise and said "Is this "pani" from Afghanistan and my day was ruined because they remember this because of the war I thought, but  children are innocent and mostly they say words without any bad intentions, so I continued to observe the class. I wanted to get closer with children but they mostly speak polish which was a little boundary for me, because I understand them but mostly I can not answer their questions in polish, if I answer in English most of them do not understand, so after that day I thought that if I wont be participating in the class actively I can not know them neither they, and started to come and speak to them about the work they do in t...
PRACTICE POST 3 (CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT) The classroom is the place where students spend most of their time. And managing the classroom environment is essential for both students and the teacher to have a “comfort zone” where they feel safe and cozy. By successfully managing the classroom, we can increase student success and create a productive and cooperative learning environment.  Classroom management is an essential part of every class and school.  In my practice classroom I have noticed that it is well-managed both in English class and besides it. The class itself is comfortable for students, they have a sit arrangement which is changing every 2 weeks (almost) I think it is to change students places and be friendly with everyone in the class. When it comes to the teacher of English, she uses classroom helpers to distribute the papers and it is important for children to learn to take a responsibility. The other method that she uses to manage the class is counting from 5...
PRACTISE POST 2 (Classroom routine) Hello, in this post I want to tell you more about my practice days and what I have noticed during my observation hours. Each classroom should have routines for children to know what to expect during the class. In my classes I have noticed that the teacher have classroom routines for all of the classes, class 0 and 1c,1e.  First teacher greet students and generally she counts till 5 for students to tidy and sit in their places because children are very energetic. Than she does the revision of previous topic with a game or a song, which are usually a freeze song or the floor is lava song (favorites of the students)  After she introduces the new topic by showing some pictures or a video, they usually work together on it or on the smart board, teacher finds an individual approach to each of them and with most of them she has a close connection. After the new topic, she uses post-task it is usually a worksheet or a group work( it is usually...
