ELT LESSON EXCERPTS By chance, I discovered a YouTube channel called "Teacher Val." I've watched a few of his videos and found them to be very interesting; the way he teaches is very positive and understandable. He is, as far as I can tell, a Lithuanian primary school teacher in China who teaches English. I thought it is a great idea to share with you what I have liked. 1 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXdMsKJjp_c&list=PL74FftQ3_xDJAfxp9wRnwnPCjjxNfeYTp&index=48 Val's first day with Chinese first graders is shown in this video, and he proves that it does not have to be as embarrassing as I thought. First, he teaches the class how to greet him by repeating after him, and he uses the presentation to help. Then he goes over the points that were written on the table for both girls and boys. He then checks to see if they understood what he was saying. Furthermore, he introduces classroom rules with gestures and by speaking, as well as having written Ch...

METHODOLOGY BOOK This semester, I decided to read the Routledge handbook of teaching English to young learners. Because the book is over 560 pages long, I've decided to share my general impressions of it. This is, in my opinion, one of the most helpful books for the novice teacher in understanding young learners and their environment in the classroom. The book is divided into six sections that highlight key issues. It begins by framing 'macro issues' in young learner teaching, such as language policy and planning, debates about a critical period for language learning, and teacher education. The book then delves into issues specific to the YL classroom, such as classroom management, multilingualism, and differentiation. All of these are covered in depth, and the suggestions for additional reading are a welcome addition. The third section was my favorite because it helped me understand some of the skills and how to teach them to young learners; the book, along with the clas...

REFLECTION ON THE WEBINAR 2 On December 22nd, I attended a webinar titled "Working in a Bilingual Preschool & Teaching Children Online," which was led by Justyna Wasek, who works in an international pre-school in Warsaw. The most essential topic for me was online teaching because it is a problem that has yet to be resolved adequately. For example, in my practice, I am experiencing the same issue while observing some of the sessions online, and it is quite difficult for the teachers, especially if the kids are very young learners. I liked how Mrs.Justyna presented some recommendations and opened up some challenges that teachers may have in online classes; it is more difficult to maintain effective management of online classes. , so I am glad that she gave us the information about it. Mrs. Justyna's presentation was interesting since she talked about school settlement and what it's like to work in a bilingual school. She also underlined the need of strengthenin...

REFLECTION ON THE LESSON IN SCHOOL DABROWSKA The first thing I wanted to say that the lesson was fully conducted in English which is very beneficial for the kids. This were an elementary school children. Another thing I liked about this session was how dynamic and interactive it was. The teacher began class by playing games with a toy to get everyone involved. She was able to rehash previous ideas and get everyone warmed up for the rest of the lecture by throwing it around and asking kids questions. She also repeatedly instructed the pupils to stand up and sit down,' which resulted in a comic exercise that made everyone chuckle. It was an excellent technique to pique their interest and make the classroom a more positive environment. The pupils were quite engaged, much like when the teacher drew drawings on the board and they had to guess what they were. There were a lot of activities and the teacher organized in a nice way! Teacher managed the class well...
