PRACTICE DAYS 5 (TEACHER TALK- STUDENT TALK)

The  ways teachers use talk in the classroom makes a difference in the quality of learning  of the students.

                                                                                   - Neil Mercer.

Another important aspect in the classroom is teacher talk and student talk, should be there any balance?
I think that it depends on the class and on the age of the students, however i might be wrong. In my student practice I think its the ratio of% 75 /% 25 because they are very young learners. Most of the time teacher introduces the topic and the vocabulary and then students repeat after her, they speak of course with their friends but not in English so i think that teacher should talk but balanced and encourage students to talk, because maybe there are children who are shy, some of them might be not listened at home so in the class we should give them maybe a chance to speak.
In the practice I have noticed that there are very different students, from different backgrounds and the goal of the teacher is to observe the class and notice which students should be talked individually because some of them are mostly attention-seekers and do  not give a chance for others to speak, that is the reason the teacher should be a very careful observer. Teacher should talk but also encourage all students to participate in the class.
One of the most important aspects is that teacher should be very careful when talking, choosing words that should be used, not too vague (especially for young learners), not too loud and not too fast. Teacher talk should be understandable for each student.
