Week 5,6 and 7!

I am back with the posts for the summer camp, here I will briefly explain the last 3 weeks and what we have done.

Week 5 was Wildlife in the city camp, where I have worked totally with a new teacher, who probably thought that I am a professional teacher and acted like it so I felt bad, because she gave me tasks and left me alone with the kids, which other teachers did not allow to do, but then I have informed her so she does not think I am a bad teacher XD

In this camp we explored, wildlife in the city and visited parks and green areas. We have spent most of the time picking-up the trash and raising awareness of the children to save the nature. At the first day we have done an insect-house, which was very fun! Other days we have done a bird-feeder and also collected flowers, leaves and different kind of materials that can serve as a paint, so at the end of which we can paint our drawings with the natural paint.

In this camp we had mostly older kids, which was easier for the teacher and we had a smaller group as a reason it was easier to manage them. We had trips to the city and collected pine-cones. I have carried-out small activities alone, and I have realized that it is stressful for me because I was not confident in my language-competence, where I had children who are native speakers of English. It made me feel nervous and sad.

In week 6, we had a Danish History camp with another teacher, where we had a totally different approach with presentations and a lot of work with writing, which I think was a bit tedious for smaller kids during summer, but I also do not understand parents who force their children to go to the camps they do not like. We had also museum visits, where we luckily had a chance to see the Gods of Vikings play, which was very fun and interesting for the kids. Mostly the teacher presented the Vikings and other important features of Danish history, where I just supported and helped-out kids with activities.

Last week again I had the Copenhagen explorers, which was with a different teacher, she prepared maps and a treasure hunt, which is a brilliant idea and time-consuming, kids loved it. By the way, the teacher was Polish student, who moved to Denmark and now studying in Sweden, she was very positive and nice. Unfortunately, at the second day of the camp I felt sick in the museum of Arts and left home, where I had health issues and could not make the camp till the end.

To sum up, it was a tremendous experience with the summer camps, it was my first time planning, observing how to speak with children because IB school have a different approach, everything was very new for me and I loved it.
