SUMMER INTERNSHIP
Hello everyone, I hope you've missed my blogs... now I am back with my unpublished experiences from my summer internship which is still going on...
As many of you know I am in Copenhagen for a teaching internship in a private school called "International school of Hellerup" as an intern "teacher".
Firstly, let me tell you how I find the school and other details of the internship. I have been searching for a summer internship from March and one of my friends who have been working as an intern there recommended me this school, after what I have written an email to request for an internship, and there my journey begins... After a short interview I've been accepted and they requested from me several documents like "criminal record" and "child abuse record" which was very surprising for me then I searched that Denmark and all the Nordic countries do not accept teachers who have not these two records. Which is very interesting because I think not all the countries have the same system and its very exiting that these countries are "picking" teachers who are clear for the safety of the society I think.
Secondly, I have contacted the Erasmus+ office at our university and there the documentation process started (which was very long for me). After all that unpleasant documentation issues I have started my internship on June 2nd.
On this day my lovely mentor showed me the school and teachers. My first thought was " I thought Poland had a very different approach than my country, but Denmark is totally different" (in a good way ofc). The whole school is like a family. The school has the IB system- and I was shown only the PYP )primary years programme) section because I teach younger kids (up to 12 y.o). The school also have ASCP (after school care programme) where students who want to stay longer after the lessons for extra activities under the supervision of ASCP teachers. So, first 2 week I have observed and worked in the ASCP part with PYP 1A class, we had 12 kids, and there I have started my teaching observation.
On June 27th the Summer School Programme had started where basically kids who wants to have their summer days fruitful stayed for the different conceptual camps with the duration of 7 weeks and each week there were 2 different camps each week. I have started working with summer camps as an assistant teacher. The camps which I have joined weekly for them I am going to reflect on them in separate posts for each week:
-Nature Explorers
-Sports
-Copenhagen Explorers
-Space
-Wildlife in the city
-Danish History
-Copenhagen Explorers
Hope you enjoy !
