CLIL LESSON 2
On 14.03.2022 I had my second CLIL lesson about inventions in general. I have designed a lesson plan about most important inventions.
Again I started the lesson with the meaning of the word invention and after they guessed I had my presentation about inventions, which included invention of paper, toilet, CD, car, computer and lightbulb. It took about 10 minutes, children were very exciting about the invention of the "toilet" they laughed a lot. This time they were hyper-active and did not want to listen to me because they had candies on the break and during the lesson, that's why teacher had to warn them during the class. After the presentation I have prepared a matching activity on the board, which was a bit difficult for them, because I did not introduce some of the vocabulary before and did not have the drilling, but I helped them with the ones they did not know. Kids have a very good memory and when one boy volunteered 2 times they started to complain "He was twice" and then I took another note for me that I should be careful with choosing people.
Next we had a video about inventing our own "string phone" but I have mixed up the videos and put a longer video by a mistake. (Yes, that sometimes happen, told me the teacher) I was having a bad day, I think that was the reason. Then I distributed the cups and strings to each pair. Again my mistake I did not say the instructions well and they started without me (A huge note for me, first instructions then the materials) because they forget about your existence after they have the materials. :)
So they had a phone call with each other and they enjoyed very much, they were very happy. It was a bit unorganized but teacher told that they need that kind of classes from time to time :). And from the next week we are changing the classes with my groupmate, I will teach 1e to see and adapt to different students and groups :)
That is a great lesson. I loved it while reading. I am sure your students loved it, too. Congrats
OdpowiedzUsuńI agree with Narin, this sounds like a really fun lesson! I love how you added comedic aspects to it, so that the students can be more engaged. I'm very impressed with how you planned this class, all the materials, and thought how to create the best experience for the students. I'm really amazed, I wish I had lessons like this when I was a student :)
